Welcome to Mrs. Offiler's Art Class!
Hello! My name is Mrs. Offiler. I am very happy to join the Cole Community as a full time faculty member in the Art Department. As an artist, I love to draw with all sorts of materials - pencil, pen and ink, markers, colored pencils. You name it, I love it! Drawing has been one of my favorite pastimes from when I was just a little girl, so I am happy I can continue to draw today.
Class Descriptions
Art 6: Students in Mrs. Offiler's Art 6 class are exposed to a variety of media, techniques, and processes in the short time we have together. As an introductory art experience at the middle school, I want Cole students to feel comfortable exploring materials and taking new chances, all while being creative and expressive. During the quarter, we progress through a variety of art media from drawing to collage, painting and printmaking to ceramics. My goal is for every 6th grader to walk away with a positive art experience, regardless of individual talents! Students will be keeping a portfolio of their work, along with an art sketchbook where they will be able to explore their personal style.
Art 7: During the quarterly 7th Grade Art class, students will be provided students with the opportunity to explore various visual art forms and techniques. Students will create studio projects that reinforce the elements and principles of art and design. Students will explore a variety of two-dimensional and three- dimensional media. Students in this quarterly art class will begin to approach their artwork with more depth, and explore personal style as they keep an art sketchbook.
Art 8: Students in the semester-long Art 8 will begin to explore more technical aspects of art, including perspective and observational drawing and painting. During this semester-long class, students will learn in-depth media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Students will also read about major artists and art movements. Students are encouraged to develop a personal style and will be keeping a portfolio of their work as well as an art sketchbook.
